Diving
Waisalima Beach Resort was responsible for the creation and preservation of the marine reserve at Naiqoro Passage on the Great Astrolabe Reef.
Located just minutes by boat from Waisalima Beach, this gateway between the South Pacific Ocean and Kadavu is one of the most important breeding ground for many types of fish species, making it one of the best places on Kadavu for diving. Through our assistance the local community now has a sustainable source of breeding fish that migrate to restock their traditional fishing grounds each year which benefits both themselves and their descendents.
You can swim alongside thousands of different species of sea creature including sea turtles, manta rays, sharks of various species (and sizes!) and schools of snapper whilst seeing some amazing soft corals.
Viti Water Sports, an independent PADI-certified operation manages the Waisalima Dive Centre and part of your diving fees goes directly to the local villages to help the marine reserves around Kadavu Island.
The Viti Water Sports dive team offer you the chance to take scuba courses from Discover Scuba right through to Dive Master in their fantastic Centre and their instructors (and the diving itself) is first-class.
They have well maintained equipment for hire, including wetsuits, Sherwood and Oceanic brand BCDs and Regulators, all to ensure you enjoy a safe and wonderful scuba experience while diving the Great Astrolabe Reef.
Families
Families are always welcome and the children will love the reef. There truly is no better place to bring children to experience Fiji and it’s beauty. Children coming to Waisalima (including teenagers) will rediscover a world apart from iPhones and Playstations and form long-lasting friendships with the locals they meet.
